Data Lake – Poder Judicial de Mendoza

The Judicial Power of Mendoza ensures compliance with provincial laws and administers justice. Its structure encompasses multiple levels, with the Supreme Court as the highest authority. This court oversees lower instances, reviews appeals, and ensures legal coherence. Its role is essential in guaranteeing impartial justice, defending rights, and upholding the rule of law in the province.

With the need to generate metrics reflecting the performance of different areas and tribunals, it was imperative to maximize the collection of data from judicial processes. This was done to strengthen transparency, increase efficiency, and discover optimization possibilities in the provision of judicial services to the community.

Through AWS tools, DirMOD successfully implemented agile and scalable solutions, leading to significant improvements in metric analysis.

To achieve the objectives of the Judicial Power of Mendoza, DirMOD designed and implemented a scalable and agile architecture for the management of case filing and resolution, among other judicial processes. One of the services utilized was AWS Lake Formation.

Furthermore, AWS Athena services were used for interactive data analysis, allowing SQL queries to be directly executed on stored datasets.

AWS Glue services were also employed for efficiently moving, transforming, and preparing data. The Step Functions service was utilized to create workflows that automate complex tasks and processes by integrating various AWS services and external applications.

Lastly, QuickSight was configured to enable effective data visualization and analysis for informed decision-making.

Achievements attained:

  • Data Governance: A management model was established that organizes and enhances the efficiency and transparency in handling judicial data.
  • Real-time Indicators: The information update time was significantly reduced, from 15 days to just 1 hour, enabling quicker decision-making based on up-to-date data.
  • Process Optimization: Nine judicial processes in the civil, labor, family, criminal, and juvenile criminal courts were improved, enhancing efficiency in judicial administration.
  • Continuous Training: Technical teams and users were trained in architecture and data analytics, ensuring optimal utilization of tools and maximizing the benefits of the implemented system.
  • Automation and Efficiency: Artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies were integrated to search for legal precedents and enhance interactions with citizens, thereby increasing efficiency and precision in judicial management.
Starting from the need to integrate the judicial processes filed and resolved by each of the chambers within the Judicial Power of Mendoza, digitalization, modernization, and search tools successfully meet the specified standards.
